AU Summit Nigerian delegate robbed in Jozi, South Africa

A Nigerian delegate attending the African Union Summit in Johannesburg was robbed last night by men posing as Nigerian police officers while he was traveling to his Sandton hotel from OR Tambo International Airport yesterday June 10th.

The fake Nigerian police officers stopped the delegate on Marlboro Drive, produced Nigerian police identification and then took $500 and R700 from him.

The robbery is the second such incident involving international delegates attending events in South Africa. Last month a group of delegates attending the Pan African Parliament were robbed at gunpoint just outside their Midrand hotel.

The African Union Summit is being held at the Sandton Convention Centre.
